The 138th Kentucky Derby

Before a record crowd of 165,307, the late charging I'll Have Another caught speedy pacesetter Bodemeister to win this year's Kentucky Derby. The Bob Baffert trained Bodemeister took the lead from the start and ran near record splits. Turning for home he opened up the lead and it looked like he might win the roses. The winner, I'll Have Another, got up near the finish and recorded a length win. The chestnut Flower Alley colt gave owner Paul Reddam and jockey Mario Gutierrez their first Kentucky Derby wins. The Triple Crown trail now heads to Pimlico in Baltimore for The Preakness Stakes on May 19th. I'll Have Another will aim to capture this race and head to Belmont with dreams of becoming the first Triple Crown Winner since Affirmed won it in 1978. If the speedy Bodemeister decides to contest the race it should prove to be an exciting run.
